A Sunday to remember...

Last Sunday was a pretty big day as Sunday's go. Firstly it was the day I released my debut EP 'prep'. I've been working on this material for nearly two years and yesterday I finally got to share it with everyone!

The EP is made up of 5 tracks and is available to download from iTunes here... or listen to it below on soundcloud...

As if that wasn't exciting enough, in the evening, my fellow 1975 superfan companion and I headed over to The Royal Albert Hall for a night of unadulterated musical pleasure. Got a feeling of deja vu? Yes, this is the 4th time we've seen them live! Despite having seen them many times before, I can honestly say that this blew all their previous performances out of the water.

Just look at that excited face...

I knew I had booked seriously good seats, but I didn't realise just how spectacular they were until we were ushered into the 2 central seats on the FRONT ROW - if i'd wanted to reach out and touch Matty I could have done, although I would probably have been swiftly taken out by one of the many patrolling bouncers (I gave this serious consideration but decided actually witnessing the gig was better than creepily caressing Matty's shoe).

The view forwards was obviously great - but to turn around and see the entire of the Albert Hall audience staring at you was spine-tingling. It is my absolute dream to play on this stage, making this particular gig, on the day of my first ever release, a very special and incredibly memorable one.

As you can probably tell the audience was at fever pitch and when the boys finally erupted onto the stage we became utterly hysterical.

Emma lost all control...

To all the people who said this band would never do anything, welcome to the fucking Royal Albert Hall

It was evident throughout the night that the boys were at times overwhelmed by the enormity of it all - their rise to stardom has been astronomical and I have no doubt they have the staying power and presence as a band to be headlining major festivals in the coming years. When Matty sat down to sing 'Is there somebody who can watch you' he was visibly wiping tears from his eyes... (visible cos of our really great seats where we could see everything yeah?!) It takes something really quite special to silence 5000 screaming teenage girls but Matty did exactly that...

I don't need to tell you how good these guys are - you should all know for yourselves by now and I've prattled on about my adoration for the boys and their music in many many blog posts. All I'm going to say is please please please, if you ever get the opportunity to watch this band, TAKE IT!

They are so good in fact that my companion was prepared to part with a rather expensive undergarment as a display of her love...

Pre Bra-Hurling...

Post-Bra Hurling

All attempts to retrieve said bra post-gig were futile although I think I saw a rather delighted roadie exiting stage-left with the item. Matty/George/Ross/Adam if you have it - it's yours! If not could the pervy stage-hand please return it to its rightful owner?

One bra down but one incredibly memorable evening. We babbled and stumbled all the way home on an absolute high - WHAT. A. NIGHT.
